Sean Mattie
A life-long student and long-time teacher, Sean Mattie maintains an endless curiosity about things, and his love of learning is infectious! Sean received his BA in Political Science from Middlebury College, his MA in Political Science from Boston College, and his PhD in Politics at the University of Dallas. After fourteen years of teaching college and publishing articles (on topics ranging from Abraham Lincoln and John Locke to Gangs of New York and WALL-E), Sean decided in 2013 to focus on individual tutoring, and he loves it! Sean has extensive experience instructing students in test prep (SAT/ACT, LSAT, SSAT, GRE, TOEFL), composition, English and American literature, languages (Italian, Latin, Ancient Greek, and French), geography, anatomy and physiology, and math. Well-practiced in the arts of close and careful reading, logical and precise thinking, and clear and persuasive writing, he is adept at helping students achieve these valuable skills for school, as well as life. Sean is new to The Successful Student, and is currently accepting students in practically any subject area.
